Au coin de la rue

Lionheart Kiara is getting street names, and there’s already one labeled: Route 1, Atoll Coastal Road. This is the old pavement way that connects Kiara with adjacent Vitani and Kopa, to the east. Mine has no name yet, so I’m living au coin de la rue… The first one runs parallel to the north of Route 1 and ends at the sim’s emblematic Harry Potter-like Wizard’s Tower; the second one runs perpendicular to both and ends at the sim’s northern edge.

House in Kiara

The house is a modest structure that only has room for the basics. It’s the Little Getaway from Designer Prims. The only modifications I made were resizing and adding a second door to the back of the house, so I could access the backyard easily. Though it looks simple (and it is), it comes with several floor and wall texture options, door locks, and shutters that you can show or hide from view. I also added a car for the first time because I heard that LL worked on sim crossings recently, and that now it’s a little bit easier to travel from sim to sim without being sent to Mars on the try. I hope that’s true, and it seems so because I’ve seen several neighbors enjoying a ride lately.

There’s not much about originality inside the house. I’ve used most of the items before –maybe with some rearrangement– except for Breno’s colorful Cardiff Petal chairs and Second Spaces‘ Eure Drafting Stool (in red) turned into a table, with Dutchie Glass vase with yellow flowers on top of it. Special mention goes to Trompe Loeil‘s Hanging Tri-Planter (yellow one, below), available at Collabor88 event. It looks nice with XED Designs Green phormium (significantly resized for a proportionate look), but I think any other hanging or small size plant will do; actually, adding any other items that may fit in will be more than ok, or even keeping the pots empty, as most people do.

Au coin de la rue backyard

Hell, that was a lot of items! And I thought I had kept things homely. The backyard, fortunately, is definitely more simple. There’s only a couple of lame’s Angel’s Hanging Chairs (in white) “attached” to Botanical’s Wooden arbor with ivy. That’s the way they have them on display at the store, and I loved how they looked, so I’m just repeating the same concept at home. The wooden arbor were originally available at The Garden event, but now that it is over you can find them at Botanical inworld store, as well as in the marketplace.

Au coin de la rue pond

The parcel’s east side holds the main garden area. Again, it’s pretty simple: Studio Skye‘s Enchanted pond (available from the marketplace) surrounded by some vegetation. There’s also Cheeky Pea‘s Alice Pergola (another item from The Garden event).

{ Other items} Nature: 19 Motorcycle (EDO Japan): Willow tree. 3D Trees: Triple Beech. Botanical: Cattails; Pond style dragonflies. Culprit: Lotus plants. Garden World: Hosta Corfu Lily. Organica: Lotus leaves. Tiki Tattoo: Papaya tree.  ||  Etc: +ilo+: Garden set. Studio Skye: Wooden Bridge (old mossy).

Suddenly, I feel tired, lol. Furnishing a house isn’t easy for sure. Next time, I’ll rezz a canopy and a toilet, and that will be it. Or hire someone to do it for me, hehe.

Nowhere, Jan. 2013

Spacious: Nowhere

If you read my post about 2012 in review, you already know that I recently moved to a different estate and the reasons why I did it. Such action, of course, calls for more landscaping! This time, being a quarter homestead, it means a lot of work too. In terms of  land capacity or prim allowance, it equals my old 4096 sq.m. parcel on a full sim (937), but it offers four times the space to play with. That doesn’t make the job any easier, I tell you; it’s “worst”, but in a good way: more details to think about. Because of that, the time to finish the whole plot also quadruplicated, and so did the number of pictures taken as a result lol. So I’m keeping the words to a minimum (what I would have said, I said already anyway), and go straight to the picks (yeah, the ones you’re going to see are but a handful of the pics I shot). I’m breaking what was going to be a single long post into several short ones as to avoid boring you too much, or making you come back another day. It’s better for the pictures anyway.

Nowhere

In a sense, but without planning, the plot is divided into four sections. The first one is where the house sits in. It’s a normal islet that carries on the name I’ve been giving to my home-lot  since forever. It houses a shed playing the part of home, a greenhouse, a water tower and a windmill; enough to make for a comfortable living in SL. Besides me and a couple of birdies, it also accommodates a banyan tree in the northwest corner.

Parenthesis: If there were a sim available with “nowhere”  as its name I would have tried to make it my home base a long time ago, hehe. Actually, taking a look at the SL map, there’s a grayed-out sim called NoWhere, but is is either inaccessible for some mysterious reason, or it doesn’t exist anymore. The thing is it’s nowhere to be found; no kidding, go and try to TP in. Aside from that, there’s also Nowhere City, an ugly “split-identity” ground-textured homestead of the kind I’ve never seen before (interesting concept, though), and Nowhereville, a normal one, but not Nowhere alone.

Inside, the shed is, by definition, a one room structure that is usually used for storage. It’s not a house per se, but since I prefer small low-prim structures rather than large and imposing ones, it is perfect for me. I treat houses as another garden decoration most of the time anyway, with furniture coming as an extra, but since I’ve collected a few nice items over the last few months, which are still waiting to be used, I thought it was a good time to spread them around.

[ Items ] Nature: Terrashop (World of Wood), Small red poinsettia with gold edges. || Furniture: lame, Caroline’s chair – script. Apple Fall, Japanese Scroll No. 1. Cheeky Pea & PILOT, Backyard cinema table. what next, Charlotte Woodburning stove & (part of) Chocolatier drinks tray. Art Dummy!, For winter contemplation. PILOT, Belted shelf & Magon art collection. The Domineaux Effect, Stack of books. Cheeky Pea, Hemmingway typewriter (no typo on my part, that’s the originally given name) & Tegan’s pallet bed. Zigana, Workbench blue (rare The Arcade Winter gatcha). ionic, Memories collector. LISP, Anna floor lamp. Bazar, Arizona black board. what next, Mayfair trunk – London.

Tomorrow, I’ll show you the wetlands, and the day after tomorrow, the woodland.

Frog’s Café

Election Day 2012, that’s today. At the time of this post voting is still going on, so there’s no sight of the impending future yet. All I can hope for is that whatever the outcome it will be for the best. After all it’s (still) the people living under this far from perfect system, who have the power to turn their collective fate the way they understand it should proceed (or that’s what we’re “accustomed” to believe).

That’s for RL, because there’s no voting whatsoever in SL. Our virtual destiny is that which is determined by the company that holds this digital world together. It’s not even possible to say that we are under the control of a man because our existence is not even dependent on that, but on a lot of other things.

So the best way to wait for the results to start rolling in is by visiting a nice place in SL such as Frog’s Café.  Surrounded by an  evocative garden, this well put together area inspires an atmosphere full of peace and tranquility (exactly what a whole bunch of RL folks will need for the next couple of days). It share its place with Frog’s Garden, a little garden center and miscellany store that’s also worth a visit.

By the way, I think I ended up in somebody’s picture again (in Forest Feast’s main store). What an inopportune intruder I am… I swear it was unintentional though (shrugs).
