Looking the Second Life metaverse through the eyes of reality

Café Oct

I’ve been thinking about doing a Cafés series since I came up with the Vanishing Café a couple of months ago. These small and cozy establishments offer a somewhat intimate ambiance that attract small groups of SLifers from time to time. For the most part they only provide a place of gathering that may or may not be accompanied by regular events, be it literary readings, music or the occasional chitchat. Most of these places tend to go unnoticed or unused, despite the fact that owners almost never ask for anything in return. So I’ll start to list some of those that I come across during my usual SL explorations. I’m picking them up just for the way they look or any other appeal. If it happens that there is some calendar of events available, I’ll let you know.

Let’s begin this survey with Café Oct. Since it’s October (usually abbreviated “Oct”), I guess it’s appropriate to pick this one for the debut. Some of you may know it because it’s right next to mdrm, a furniture store I  have blogged before. During the last three months it has changed appearance about two or three times, which means someone is actually keeping the place alive. Yet, if there’s more to it than merely being there, I’m still to find out.
