The Vanishing Café

Before I tear it all down to make room for who knows what, here are a few pictures of the dysfunctional coffeehouse I put together in Zacca’s Farmer House (small version) as I blogged a few days ago. I liked the building a lot, so I placed it next to the cottage I’m occupying as living quarters right now (if ever I’m there), even though I didn’t have any particular use for it. I bought it, so I had to justify the expense, I think. And for some strange reason the first “vision” to come to mind was a café, so I went ahead and dragged a few items I had in my inventory, and then bought a few more so the place might look a little bit as what it is supposed to be. Since it’s in a private sim with no traffic whatsoever, except for locals and their alts, and because it is primarily for residential, not for heavy commercial use, I never intended to get on and schedule some monthly or weekly recital or other public event, and risk exile from this estate for breaking the covenant. That’s why it is dysfunctional, because it has no function at all other than make-believe… and to myself.

The reduced interior isn’t large enough even for a children’s club house, I’d say (remember that I downsized the building as much as half its original size). It’s actually the equivalent of a small living room plus kitchen plus dining room all together sort of place, yet I counted up to 18 sitting surfaces with their own poses in all, or 19 including the one doing the dishes.  If I were to invite so many people in, which won’t happen as I’ve been telling you, there would be a spot for everyone.

In the first picture, besides Zacca’s Farmer House, there is a Cafe Board from what next, an Open Cafe Table set from mdrm, and a VonaCola Drink Vending Machine from Vooner. To the left (of the pic), more stuff from what next: a Riviera Beach Towel and two Deck Chairs. The towel is meant to be used as a rug, but if anyone wants to sit in and relax, go for it.

In the second picture, clockwise from left: Hi Table Set with stools from mdrm, on top of which there is a Fast Food Set from a gatcha at Vooner, and a Green Tea Parfait from poche. Next to the high table is the Dark Radio from House of Avro I blogged before, and three products from Y’s House: a Sofa 03, a Rug wool, that changes textures to the touch, and a Round Chair, where I’m sitting. The sofa in particular includes some white cushions linked to it, as you can see in the picture above, but if you go to the shop, you will see that similar models on display both in store and in posters have mixed white and blue cushions on them instead. I was expecting mine to be like that, so I sent –twice– a notecard to the creator asking if there was a problem with the product since mine doesn’t match the ones on display, or  if the cushions were supposed to change textures using a malfunctioning script or something. I haven’t received a reply yet. To avoid a possible message cap (as is very common in SL), I sent the notecard again when I saw the designer was online, but no luck either. The creator is Japanese so maybe we’re currently lost in Google translations (let’s think so). Not that it matters that much to me, though I’m kind of disappointed, but if there’s another more demanding customer, and he or she expects a blue-cushioned sofa as I did, that someone will really be upset.

Next to the sofa is This Old Desk from ililo, and a Hinoki Cypress Bonsai from Organica. To the right, there is a Texture Changing Rug from SFW Industries, and Vooner’s Kitchet Set in wood.

Last picture: beginning with the Panda Chair from Vooner (it’s a gatcha thingy, quite cute if you ask me), and a white stool from Zacca’s Garden Kitchen set, which was a gift from last year’s SwayLand Summer Hunt. Over the window counter, there is a pair of Decorative Magazine Covers from Off Brand Furniture, a Pound cake basket from poche, and an Expresso Coffee Machine from Digital Bar Stuff, etc. (it’s a long name, so…). The Bistro Chalkboards are from LISP Bazaar, the Pizza is from poche, while the Kitchen Bottles and the Cut Board are from Entity. The bottles in a crate at the front side of the counter are from POST; under them is a White crate from Zigana doing as a side table.

Lastly, for the sweets… Inside the counter’s display case (which, by the way, is a modified version of one by Caustic), lower shelf: a Tart of Pear from poche, and a couple of Kinokoko croissants standing on a Place mat, also from poche. Upper shelf: IchigodaihukuSakuramochi, and Shyokudango sets from iTuTu. To the left of the display case, there is a partially visible Fast Food box (which is actually a package) from Vooner, a Fancy cake from LISP Bazaar, a Dial Scale also from Vooner, a Cherry Pie from Organica, and two bottles of Milk from atmosphere works.

And now for the last item (pheeeew!)… How many apples and lemons do you count in that Steel Food Basket from The Loft? There are seventeen apples (if I did the math right) and eight lemons. And then there’s the two-story basket where they stand. Once upon a time, it would have required at least some 30 prims to create an object like that. Today, using mesh, its creator managed to put all that detail into a 1 prim/1 LI single object. Can you believe that???!!!! That’s some awesome mesh work!!! The rest of the stuff released by The Loft this weekend is equally amazing and colorful. You can check their blog post here for more information. A little warning though: your will want to buy most of that furniture, so be prepared to resist temptation when it comes your way, or be ready to let the cash flow because the nicest products (and there are many) are on the expensive side –from my point of view–, so you will need a big wallet if resistance is futile. My pockets are big, but empty, so I only got out of there with that fruit basket and a dish rack I didn’t get to use this time. Sighs…
