Poinsettia Day

I didn’t know there was a Poinsettia Day in the US calendar –see, there’s always something new to be learned every day– and it happens to be December 12. Today’s date will probably be remembered more as 12-12-12, though, the day when thousands of crazy couples have chosen as their wedding day. Considering some lunatic has predicted that an inverted 12 of this same month and year will be the day when the world ends, I would have probably waited to marry next year instead.

Anyway, today is Poinsettia Day, at least in the US, a country that succeeded in commercializing the old Mexican and Central American tradition of using the “Noche Buena” or “Flor de Pascua” (as the plant is also known in other Spanish-speaking countries) to decorate people’s homes and public spaces. If it happens that you like to continue the old tradition in SL, here are several nice options to choose from.

Poinsettias 2

According to the numbers in the picture, they are:

  1. Xed Design – Available in three colors: red, pink and white (the three of them in the picture above). They are 1 LI and copyable.
  2. Organica Specialty Trees – Available in eight colors: blue (pictured above), white, red, pink, pink variegated, orange, violet and magenta. They are 3 LI and copyable.
  3. Sculpties Up in Here – This is an old product, probably dating as back as 2008. I couldn’t find a store inworld anymore, but they are available in the marketplace, in white, pink, red and variegated (the last two in the picture above). They are 9 prims each, copyable or transferable.
  4. Terrashop, a division of World of Wood (a.k.a. WoW in SL, very “original” name, isn’t it?) – These are my favorites because they are very detailed and quite realistic. They are available in white, pink and red (the three of them in the picture above), in two sizes –big (3 LI) or small (1 LI)– as potted, in vase or ikebana (a flower arrangement in Japanese). They are either copyable or transferable.

So before the Maya calendar overrun the Aztec’s and ours, TP to one of these stores and get your Poinsettia for this Christmas celebration.
